Raymond E. Nelson, age 73, of Kenosha passed away on Sunday, April 11,
2021 at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born
on December 29, 1947 in Kenosha to Oscar and Grace (Stauffacher) Nelson.
He was educated at local area schools and graduated from Tremper High
School in 1965. Ray worked for 32 years with the Kenosha Police
Department. He had achieved the rank of detective and retired in 2000. Ray
also worked as an officer with Randall Boat Patrol and was a member of their
boat patrol for 12 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed
fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by, his parents and his brother, Roger Nelson.
Ray is survived by, his longtime companion of 43 years, Marilyn Meldahl
and her son, Aaron Meldahl. He is also survived by his two sons, Ray (Phyllis)
and Rick (Carol) Nelson; his daughter, Rhonda (Bill) Stueber; 10
grandchildren, Mark, Jack and Jace Stueber, Ally, Austin, Avery, Cami,
Raymond III and Rebecca Nelson; three great grandchildren, Eloise and Errett
Smith and Harleigh Ray Kirkland who is due in June; his brother, Loren
(Maria) Nelson and his sister, Carol Hassinger.
In accordance with Ray’s wishes, no services will be held. The family
would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses at Aurora Medical Center
and Hospice for the compassion and kindness they showed to him.

Very sorry for your loss. I remember seeing Ray walking down 93rd St when he was a teenager. My grandmas house was 4 house east of his parents house on 93rd St. I enjoyed seeing him again in the 1990’s at “Dukes” and having good conversations.
