I had the pleasure of working with Nanci for the last 7 years. She was one of the best people I have ever known. I lost a couple of people just over a year ago. Nanci was my saving grace here at work when that happened. She always knew the exact right thing to say to bring a smile, even in the darkest moments. She is already missed beyond words.

I worked with Nanci for 13 years. Every day she had something positive and something funny. She was always there to lend an ear if you needed it. But what I really liked about her is you never had to wonder what she think about you, she was very straight forward…Nanci my friend you will be dearly missed, not looking forward to coming back to work without you there….Much Love…R.I.H.

Nanci meant the world to us at work. She was always there to lend support and help any way she could. I will miss her great stories, her laugh, and kind words to everyone. She always said what was on her mind and would always ask how my family was. Our lives crossed over into our personal lives as well, which meant I got to also see her outside of work. I will miss her terribly and send all my love and support to her family which she loved so very much!

My condolences to Nanci’s family. I had the pleasure and honor to work with such great human being that always had a great smile for everyone. I remembered when I decided to go back to my country, Panama, she encouraged me to be the “Latina Oprah.” I just laughed so hard when she said that and all she said to me was, “you can do it.” Thank you Nanci for always believing in me!!! You are now our angel.

Gone from us her smiling face, the cheerful pleasant ways, the heart that won so many friends, in bygone, happy days. A life made beautiful by kindly deeds, a helping hand for other’s needs. To a beautiful life come a happy end, she died as she lived, everyone’s friends, miss you shorty

I first met Nanci when I was a new employee of Goodwill Industries. She was the glue that held “cubicle” world together. Her office was a joyous as she was. Later I had the priviledge to get to know Nanci on a different level when I was working in the daycare and was a caregiver for McPete as she called him. Her motherly love and understanding was phenomenal.
Nanci was a beacon in the darkness. We loved her at the job center. Her pink wigs, tiaras, and contagious laugh.
Nanci and I shared a love of the Wizard of Oz.
To my yellow rose friend. You have finally walked the yellow brick rose and ” there is no place like home”.
    Love and Miss you!

  • Helen Sampson says:

Nanci was someone I could count on. She met every one of my requests at the Job Center with graciousness and did not give up until she was successful. The simple and joyful payment for my requests was to listen to a new story – usually about Leif who graduated Tremper with my daughter. Nanci was clearly devoted to her loved ones and her creative spirit and effervescence was always present in everything she did. I will miss her.

  • Annette Kraus says:

Nancy was one of the people i always made sure to introduce new staff to. She was like the “Mom” of the KCJC and always made sure we had what we needed to work successfully. Each year when we ordered new calendars, she would write out each person’s name in calligraphy on a post it on our calendars…..i mean, just a little thing but it was who she was. Made the everyday, just a little more special. I will miss her.

  • Elizabeth Johnson says:

I am in the SCA and have known Nanci as Astrid for more than 25 years. I am so sad to think about never seeing her again. She was a staple at most events. I will never forget the way she said my name. Her smile was better than words and her hugs made me feel so safe and cared for. Heaven gained an angel for sure, but left many hearts broken in the process. I can’t wait to see everyone and tell stories of her. My thoughts are prayers are with her family and friends. Her memory will live on through all of us.

Though there are tears, I will take comfort in the memory of her smile. I will smile at the memory of her wit and laughter. I will take solace in the memory of her wisdom. She has slipped the bonds of humanness, but her humanity still remains. She is loved and still loves.

Nanci was the brightest star at the Job Center. She was always helpful, kind and looked out for people. I could count on Nancy to get me extra supplies and make sure that all my needs were met. I will always remember her hearty laughter, her funny stories, her happy mood and the way she unapologetically said she was the Goddess at work! Nanci allowed me to be the Queen but she was the Goddess! I am deeply saddened by her passing and I send my sincere condolences to her family. Let the Angels step aside. Nanci, the Goddess, has arrived to claim her rightful place in the Kingdom of Heaven!

While working at SWL at the polls yesterday, I learned of Nanci’s passing. How sad I was. Nanci was always wiling and helpful whenever needed. Her big smile and happy laugh transformed a good day into a great day at work. Nanci had a big heart. She loved her family and others around her. I am still in disbelief. Love you, Nanci. Rest in peace. You are and always will be missed.
