Donald “Don” C. Mulkey, age 77, of Kenosha, passed away on September 24th, 2026, peacefully at his residence. He was born on December 1st, 1948, in Nassawadox, Virginia to the late Harold and Veo (Dickenson) Mulkey. After graduating High School, Donald enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served for several years before being honorably discharged. He lived all around the country and met his future wife, Linda Frank, on December 29th, 1969, outside the military base in New Jersey. They later got engaged on February 2nd, 1970, and married on August 1st, 1970, at Evangelical Covenant Church in International Falls, Minnesota. Together they were married for over 56 years.
Don worked at various jobs in San Diego, California for companies such as Campbell Shipyard and Dean’s Photo and various other jobs in Kenosha and Waukegan. He officially retired from work in 2014. Faith was very important to Donald, and he loved being active at church and even taught Sunday School for over 30 years collectively. Donald was also an accomplished violinist, performing regularly in the Waukegan Symphonic Orchestra in the second violin. He was also a member of the bluegrass band, “Harmony Grits” as a fiddliest.
Don is survived by his loving wife Linda Mulkey, children: D. Christopher (Sherry) Mulkey and William (Jeralyn) Mulkey, grandchildren: Mikalah Mulkey, Meredith Mulkey, Morgan Mulkey, Selah Mulkey, Elijah Mulkey and Isaiah Mulkey, and many other living relatives and friends. There were also many others that considered Don as a grandfather as well. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: John Everett Mulkey and James Everett Mulkey.
Funeral services for Don will be held at Crossway Community Church (13905 75th St, Bristol, WI 53104) on Monday, October 12th, at 2. A visitation with family and friends will also be held at church at 1 P.M. until the service. He will later be interred at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at a later date in a private family service.
