Loretta Victoria Genovese (Petrongelli) was born on August 22, 1935, to Augustino Petrongelli and Victoria (Coppotelli) Petrongelli. She passed away peacefully at Brookside Care Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin on September 25, 2026, at the age of 91.
Loretta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard, and her siblings Virginia, Alessandro “Alex,” Elio, Pia “Peggy,” Erma, Giuseppe “Joseph,” Maria “Mary,” and Anita “Nene.” She was the last of her generation in the Petrongelli family.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Lingo (Jon), Cathy Niccolai (Mark), Janet Gangler (Bob), David Genovese (Alfredo), and Judy Genovese (Guy), and her grandchildren, Sam (Kristen), Jack (Kaitlin), Anna (Zach), Jess, Nate (Shannon), Joe (Amanda), and Luke. As well as her bonus grandchildren, Ryan (Nikki), Robert “Bobby”, Conor, Gabriella and Ethan. Along with a large and loving family of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who adored her.
Loretta grew up in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and was a graduate of Bloom High School. She came from a large Italian family, and she carried that heritage with her always. The history, the memories, the traditions, and above all the love that comes from being part of something so big.
She spent her life taking care of her family, raising her five children on a dairy farm in Bristol, Wisconsin. Anyone who knows farm life knows it wasn’t always easy. There were long days, hard work, and more cooking than most people could imagine, but through it all her children always came first. She gave us everything she had.
Loretta was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and family was always at the center of who she was. She was a member of the Kenosha County Homemakers Club for 65 years, and she loved spending time with her dear friends playing Mexican Train.
Loretta was the heart of her family. While she will be missed dearly, we find comfort in knowing that after 31 long years apart, she is finally reunited with her husband, Richard, in heaven.
As Loretta spent the last seven years of her life living at Brookside Care Center, we want to give a special, heartfelt thank you to the staff of the 400 Hall for caring for her.
A visitation with family and friends will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (1501 172nd Ave, Paris (Union Grove), WI 53182) on Saturday, October 10th, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will also be held at church at 12:00 P.M. on the same day. Immediately following the services, Loretta will be laid to rest next to her late husband at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a flower in your garden and think of Loretta every time you see it or consider a memorial to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (1501 172nd Ave, Paris (Union Grove), WI 53182).

I have fond memories of your mom and Cathy as my 1st 4-H Foods and Nutrition leaders. She had great patience…I managed to catch one of her potholders on fire using the oven for the first time! Our mom always enjoyed visiting with her at Homemaker’s club meetings and at Brookside. May God Bless your entire family with great memories to comfort you during this time.
Cathy Niccolai says:
Thank you, Judy. My mom always enjoyed being with your mom, as well. Oh, the 4-H memories, thanks for reminding me. ❤️
