Phillip K. Knebel

Phillip Kurt Knebel, age 82, a resident of Kenosha, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Froedtert South Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 2, 1939, in Milwaukee, WI, he was the son of the late John and Ruth (Wesner) Knebel. In 1962, he married Lynn (Powers) Przlomski. They had four children and would later divorce.

He began working for Snap-On Tools in 1968 in sales. He worked his way up the ladder and retired 25 years later managing the Southeast Sales Division out of Nashville, TN. He enjoyed watching college football and golf, loved old cars, and played the piano and the violin by ear. He was a member of Tusculum Hills Baptist Church in Nashville and lived his life for the Lord.

Phil would be best described for the love of his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved attending their sporting events, going out to dinner or on Starbucks runs, and just hanging out with them. He planned yearly visits to Wisconsin Dells to go to the waterparks and drive the go-karts. He was “Gramps” to many of his grandchildren’s friends. All who knew him loved him for his sweet, selfless, and generous personality.

He is survived by his children: Kimberly (Skip) Ambrose of Pleasant Prairie, Timothy (Becky) Knebel of Pleasant Prairie, and Tammy (Joe) Barrette of Kenosha, 5 grandchildren: Jason Ambrose, Nicholas Knebel, Jordyn Barrette, Jenna Barrette, and Jonathon Knebel, and one great grandchild: Camden Ambrose who adored his “Bebop”.

He is further survived by two sisters, Judy (Richard) Udvare and Patricia (Ron) Pendrick. Also survived by Lori Martin and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Knebel and a son at birth, Todd Phillip Knebel.

A memorial service honoring Phil’s life will be held on Thursday January 6, 2022, at 7:00 PM at the Kemper Center Founders Hall. (6501-3rd Avenue). Visitation will be held on Thursday in Founders Hall from 5:00 PM until 7:00PM.

  • Uncle Phil was the best man that I have ever met in my life. He supported me through some very tough times and was my rock when I needed him. There are no worse to describe this but he was the most caring, loving and great soul that you could ever meet. He was my Dad, after mine left this world. He guided me through the darkest days of my life. I shall always love, adore and cherish out days together. You changed my life, Uncle Phil! Thank you for being there for me!
