John Joseph Zizzo

John Joseph Zizzo, age 46, a resident of Kenosha passed away April 7th, 2021 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee WI. He was surrounded by his loving family: his mother Helen J. Zizzo; father, John N. Zizzo; his uncle, James V. Zizzo and a nephew Jimmy M. Zizzo. John had one sibling, Steven S. Zizzo

John was born on March 25, 1975 in Illinois. John graduated from Tremper High School. John was the kindest person to everyone. His work was doing what he loved doing most, rehabilitating dogs so they could be adopted to nice homes. Safe Harbor Humane Society gave him this opportunity to do what he had a genuine love for, all the dogs.

These are John’s words he posted few years ago that best describes him. “So I’ve been thinking I could make more money working somewhere else, but I couldn’t work anywhere else. My coworkers are awesome and share the same compassion I do, I’m always smiling all day. I could be mad or sad that day and I know I can go to one of 40 dogs that will greet me with no judgement but to just to be with me. While I’m working, I’m moving fast and cleaning I have to slow down for a min, what I see are my dogs’ eyes fixed on me with crooked heads. I can’t help to stop and say hi and tell them “I see you and love you”.

We have another Angel who received their Wings. I feel very fortunate that I was able to FaceTime Johnny along with his brother Steven in the hospital the day he was taken to be with God and his Heavenly family. His expressions showed us that he heard us and he knew we loved him dearly. He was taken too soon but God said that it was time. I want to remember happy times of a life well live. Always remember that just because he is out of sight he is with you every morning, noon and night. May Gad Bless you Helen and John with strength and peace in ur heart 😢💔❤️

  • Emily Hudson says:

I worked very close with John at safe harbor, and I loved every minute of it. He was always so willing to teach, and take new staff under his wing. He’d say “stick with me, I’ll show you how it’s done”. He was always so proud of himself when he would get a challenging dog adopted. he made sure that dog felt loved, and could trust people again. John will always be in my thoughts, and forever in my heart. The world lost a wonderful person, and he will be missed dearly. Love ya Johnny cool whip. ♥️

  • I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I did not really know John, but anyone who has a heart for animals must be the very best.
