Eugene Schutz, age 89, a resident ofKenoshapassed away Monday February 25, 2013 at FroedtertHospitalinMilwaukeeas a result of injuries he received in a pedestrian accident.
Gene was born May 27, 1923 in Kenoshato Nicholas and Ella (Johnson) Schutz. He served proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II, where he worked on B-24’s. After the service he started work at American Motors as a machine repairman. He retired from Chrysler Corp. after 40 years.
On July 2, 1971 he married the only love of his life Carolyn (Klemm) Smith. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2009.
Gene is survived by his three sons, John (Jeanette) ofKenosha, Garrett (Vicki) ofTorrington CT, and James (Jo-Ann) ofNew Berlin. He is further survived by four step daughters, Susan, Darlyn, Patricia and Karen.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, as well as one son Frederick, and a surrogate son, the Reverend David J. Meinholz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday February 28th 2013 at 7:00PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kenosha. (Corner of 39th Avenue and 73rd Street) Visitation with the family will be on Thursday at the church from 4:30PM until the time of mass. Burial with full military honors will take place on Friday March 1st 2013 at 9:00AM at Southern WI Veterans Cemetery.Eugene will be laid to rest together with his beloved wife Carolyn.
