Elsie M. Sylke, age 85 a resident of Kenosha, died Tuesday December 27th 2011 at Brookside Care Center in Kenosha. Elsie was born on October 15, 1926 in Milwaukee WI to John and Theresa (Svikel) Nikolaus. She was educated in the schools of Milwaukee. On July 12, 1947 Elsie married Raymond Sylke in Dubuque IA. She was employed as a checker at Kohls Food Stores in Milwaukee. She moved to the Kenosha area in 1970. Elsie was a longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the M & M senior Club at St. Peters. Elsie volunteered at Brookside Care Center and the Blood Bank and was an avid reader.
Elsie is survived by her daughter Linda M Hinderliter of Kenosha, grand daughter Brenda (Scott Villella) Hinderliter of Kenosha and two great grand daughters Kayla Becker of Kenosha and Brooke Villella of Kenosha. She is also survived by two sisters Dorothy Elonen of Iron River MI and Rose (Burt) Ellis of Roseburg OR.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law Raymond Hinderliter and two brothers George Nicholas and Bernerd Benka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 30th 2011 at 10:30AM at St. Peter Catholic Church in Kenosha. (2224-30th Avenue) Visitation with the family will be on Friday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of mass. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee.
In lieu of flowers memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated.
