Elizabeth Owen (1943 – 2012)

Elizabeth A. Owen, age 68, a resident of Kenosha, died Monday July 16, 2012, at the Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie WI.

Born on October 6th, 1943, in La Crosse, WI, she was the daughter of the late Keith and Hilda (Schroeder) Owen.

She was raised in Hokah, MN, and moved to Kenosha in 1970.

She was employed as a Machinist at Snap-On Tools Corporation for almost 30 years, retiring in May of 2004, and served on the Snap-On Recreation Club Board of Directors.

She was also member of Ladies of the Moose Club, Chapter 155.

She loved to go camping and shared in the joy of it. She taught camping skills to her children and grandchildren, which are now family traditions to be passed on for generations. She was an excellent cook and also an avid Packer fan. She loved to go bowling, play Bingo and play the slot machines at the Casinos. She cherished time “hanging out” with her grandchildren. She was known to have a huge heart and was a friend to anyone who needed one. She strove to make a difference in people’s lives, often turning the time spent with them into friendships and bringing them into her family circle. Helping others and making an impact in their lives was a trait she instilled in her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons; Keith (Lura) Stiller of Arizona; Justin Scott (Char) Geissman of Silver Lake; Kathryn Stiller of Madison; Alicia (Mike) Chovan of Kenosha; grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends. She is further survived by one brother, Robert Owen, and two sisters: Janice (Ted) Meinders and Carol (Jerry) Loverink.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Gordon Owen, and her eldest son, Rolf Stiller Jr. “Junior”. Family came from near & far to be with her during her final days, and she went to the Lord while being held by her children and surrounded by love.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 19th 2012, at 7:00PM at the Bradford Community Church Unitarian Universalist in Kenosha. (5810-8th Avenue)
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday at the church from 5:00PM until the time of services. Private burial will take place in LaCrosse, WI, at a later time. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Froedtert Hospital ICU staff and Hospice Alliance for their care, concern and compassion during their Mom’s stay.
