David (Dave) Kent Nelson

David (Dave) Kent Nelson, 70, died Friday, March 8, 2024, at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Kenosha, WI, after his battle with cancer.

Dave was born (1954) and raised in South Holland, IL, and is the son of Donald and Ruth (Hanko) Nelson. He is survived by his son, Joseph (Shelby) Nelson; his sister Donna (Harvey) Lutz; his grandchildren Joey and Emma; his cousins, Randy Nelson and Jeff Nelson; extended family; and many close friends and fellow veterans who he met at the American Legion in Gurnee, IL. Dave was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother, Dan Nelson. Dave served in the Navy aboard the USS Independence.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at the Gurnee American Legion, 749 Milwaukee Ave. Gurnee, IL, on Saturday April 6th. The visitation will be from 11am to 1pm and services will begin at 1pm. Dave will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to make donations to the Gurnee American Legion Post 771, P.O. Box 71, Gurnee, IL 60031.
