Bernadine Larsen, 73, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully May 27th 2014 at Kenosha United Hospital.
Born August 13, 1940, the daughter of the late Robert Sr. and Elaine (DeKeuster) Schmidt. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Bernadine was the eldest of 3 children.
Bernadine worked and retired from American Motors. After retirement she worked at Pick N’ Save which became her second family.
Bernadine was the Queen of her Kingdom ruling with her King Joseph Larsen who started their Kingdom March 22nd 1977 when they became Husband and Wife. Bernadine was the law and the glue that governed and brought her family together. She taught us what it was to truly be family, to love unconditionally and to be strong and weather any storm as we always had our Kingdom built by love stronger than any of us alone.
Bernadine loved to cook for her family and share her love, thoughts and opinions. She loved to host family get togethers, birthdays, holidays and cookouts to bring the family ever closer. She loved the beauty that life brought; she loved to create a beautiful home and yard. From flowers and plants to dolls and knick knacks she loved creating a warm and inviting home.
Her Kingdom includes her husband Joseph Larsen, her siblings Robert Schmidt Sr. married to Carol and Judy Rought married to the late Richard Rought. Bernadine had four children Cassy Schroeder married to Robert Schroeder; Blair Stowell married to Roxanne Stowell; Tara Luska and Carrie Stowell. Bernadine had 11 grandchildren Chad and Robby Stowell children of Carrie Ann Stowell, Matt, Kyle, Jenny and Tyler Schroeder children of Cassy and Robert Schroeder; Rachel, Cory and Kayla Luska children of Tara and John Luska; Ashley, Justin and Lindsay Stowell children of Blair and Roxanne Stowell.
Her extended family includes her Mother and Father in Law, Samuel and Bertha Larsen their children Joseph Larsen Jr., Todd Larsen, Cheryl Keisler, and Annie Larsen. Joey Larsen, son of Joseph Larsen Jr., Erik and Leah Keisler, children of Stan and Cheryl Keisler.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her daughters Carrie Ann Stowell and Tara Luska. Bernadine was also preceded by her grandchildren Ashley Stowell and Kyle Schroeder.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 30th, at 11 am at Holy Nativity Lutheran Church in Kenosha (2313-17th Ave). Visitation with the family will be on Friday at the church from 9:30am to 11am. Burial will take place at a later date.
