Walter R. Schmauss, age 91, a resident of Kenosha, died Monday January 28, 2013 at the Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie.
Walter was bornOctober 5, 1921in Lake City Minnesotato Royal and Elizabeth (Lalonde) Schmauss.
OnMarch 5, 1949, he married Delores Adler in Millville MNand they came toKenoshain 1950. Walter worked for many years for TC Thompson Company foundry in Highland Park IL. After his retirement, he worked for a janitorial service at Snap On and remained a hard worker until he was 86 years old.
Walter enjoyed fishing, bowled in many different leagues through the years and loved to play the lottery. One of his favorite pastimes was playing cards with friends and family. He was a Packers and a Cubs fan, and he took special pleasure in the time spent with his grandchildren and family.
Walter is survived by one son Gary (Annette) Schmauss of Kenosha, three daughters Sandra (Bob) Wiercinski of Bristol and Charlene (Mike) Delany and Debra (James) D’Angelo both of Kenosha. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jason (Jill) Torcivia, Christina Torcivia, Nicholas (Stephanie) Torcivia, Jared, Michael and Daniel D’Angelo and seven great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jessica, Addison, Alex, Avah, Samantha and Dominic. He is further survived by a sister Rosemary (Edwin) Johnson of Wisconsin Dells.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his step father Ralph Smith, his wife Delores, a grandson Timothy Wiercinski and a great grandson Steven Wiercinski.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Carroll and his Staff and to Hospice Alliance for their kind and compassionate care of Walter.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 31, 2013 at 6:00PM at St. Marks Catholic Church in Kenosha (7117 14th Avenue). Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday at the church from 5:00PM until 6:00PM. Burial will take place at a later date.
