Tonya D. Baldwin

Dr. Tonya Denise Baldwin (PhD-Education) passed away on May 15, 2020 at Froedtert South Hospital .in Kenosha, WI.

Tonya was born on January 4, 1962 in Albany, NY to Herman Sr. and Lilia Thomas. She was educated in the Albany school system and graduated from Albany, HS. She furthered her education to receive a Bachelor degree from Allegany University (PA); a Master degree from Northwestern University (IL); and a Doctorate from Marquette University (WI). Tonya was currently serving as the Vice-President of the D.R. Bell Bible College in Chicago, IL as well as a bible teacher with expertise in the Book of Acts.

Dr. Baldwin also served on the Ministerial Credential Committee of the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, INC (PCAF). She has traveled nationally and internationally spreading the Gospel of Christ and teaching Christian students on-line.

On November 28, 1987 she married Jerry Baldwin Jr. in Detroit MI and moved to Kenosha. To this union was born six children. She was a great mother and took intense interest in the lives of her children. She was known for her enthusiastic support at her children’s sporting events and high school Fine Arts programs. Tonya was also an avid NCAA and professional football and basketball fan. The Packers was her team of choice as well as Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

Moving to Kenosha, she became an active member of the Bethlehem Temple. In April of 2001, her husband Jerry was elevated to serve as the Pastor of the Bethlehem Temple Church. Tonya served faithfully as: Usher, Van Driver, Sunday School teacher, Youth President, and cook. She chaired the Ministerial training at Bethlehem Temple all while serving as First Lady. She spearheaded the Bethlehem Temple’s collaboration with the Shalom Center in Kenosha to feed the hungry of Kenosha.

Tonya is survived by her loving husband of 32 yrs, Bishop Jerry Baldwin Jr.; children – Joriese Renee, Jeriman Reed, Jerron Ryan (aka Bubba); Jourdan Ruth Sylvester (Joshua); Jacquelyn Rose (aka Jack Rabbit). Her mother – Sis Lillia Thomas; her siblings – Jacquelyn (Donald) Mallett, Bishop Herman (Grace) Thomas, Dwayne (Felica) Thomas and Ronald (Trish) Thomas. Her mother- in- law Clarice Baldwin. Brother-in laws – Deacon Mark (Tess), Elder Steven (Linda), Elder Timothy (Ranya), Bishop Shawn (Renay) Baldwin. and one sister-in-law – Evang Amy Baldwin. Her best friend – Evang Jayme (Wille) Berry. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, family friends, members of the PCAF, Inc, the Wisconsin State District Council, and the entire Bethlehem Temple Church Family.
