Susan M. Dyke-O’Day

Susan M Dyke O’Day, 85, passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2025. She was at home with her beloved husband of 31 years, John O’Day.

Susan was born on September 27th, 1939, in Duluth, MN, the daughter of a Lutheran minister.  Eventually the family settled in Chicago where she graduated from Senn High School.  She later attended Augustana College and started a family shortly thereafter.

Eventually Susan settled in Kenosha, WI, where she quickly became involved with Trinity Lutheran Church.  Although Susan had many talents and vocations, she spent most of her working life in real estate where she had a notable career.

In 1980, Susan met her beloved John and so began what was to become a wonderful, blended family after she and John wed in January 1994.

Susan was a woman of many loves:  her husband John, her family, her friends, her church, her community, and the family cabin in northern Minnesota.  Susan lived for each day and never failed to have plans for the days ahead.  She will be dearly missed.

Susan is survived by her husband John O’Day and their blended family: Jan (Paula Kates) Dyke, Craig (Cheri’) Dyke, Kristin (Robert) Walsh, Kelly O’Day, Shawn (Katherine) O’Day, Stacey O’Day, and Ryan (Jamie) O’Day.  In addition, Susan is survived by Steven (Christine) Dyke and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren, by order of age:  Madeline, Gustav, Kelley, Josephine, Landon, Isabelle, Charlie, Brayden, Wesley, and Thorin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Eric (Violet) Gustavson, and her brother, Rev. Eric Gustavson, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kenosha, 7104-39th Avenue. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday May 24, 2025 at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
