Silvio P. Balsano, age 73, a resident of Kenosha, died October 11, 2013 at UHS Kenosha Medical Center.
Silvio was born in Kenosha on Palm Sunday March 17, 1940. He was the youngest son of Silvio and Evangeline Balsano.
He attended St. James grade school and St. Mary’s H.S. and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1959. He also graduated from Dominican College with a degree in art education.
Silvio proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for over 30 years at the Kenosha Achievement Center as the head of the Silk Screen Dept. His many artistic talents showed through in his Floral design business-Balsano Floral Gallery. He enjoyed making brides happy on their Wedding day with his gorgeous floral designs and attending to all the little extra details.
He was united in marriage to Albina Mauro on October 21, 1972. She was the “Love” of his life. They were always together. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2008. He missed her so very much. So, now they will be together again.
As a true Italian, he loved cooking and enjoyed entertaining. His speciality was Linguini with Clam Sauce, which he made every Christmas Eve to the whole family’s delight.
Above all he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his sisters, Vincenza Nierenberger and Rose Henderson and his brother Joseph Balsano. In addition he is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday October 23, 2013 at 5:00PM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kenosha. (2224 30th Avenue) Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday at the church from 3:00PM until the time of mass. A reception to celebrate Silvio’s life will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.
