Thoughts for Roger Warren Anders;

  • Stacy Howard-Gentry says:

    Roger was known for his kind heart and generosity – the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He was there for his step-kids when they needed guidance, something for school, a car to get to work or just a soft place to land.

    Roger served proudly in the military and retired after more than 20 years in the Navy. He then went on to have a career as an electrician.

    Roger was an avid gardener and enjoyed the fruits of his labor and happily shared with friends and neighbors too. One of his greatest pleasures was fishing. He came out to California once and went deep sea fishing with his brothers-in-law. It was a great day and we all enjoyed a delicious fish fry that night.

    Rest in Peace, Roger. You deserve it.

    Fish on!

    Stacy

    Roger was one of the few friends that favors didn’t matter because we completed each other. He had and knew things I needed and vise versa.
    I met Roger 20 years ago and our love for tools, lumber jacking and tinkering made us dear friends. I grew up hating meat loaf, Roger’s recipe is one of my favorite meals. Surviving the house fire and getting back to normal made us family with Jason and Keverne. My contact picture for him is a very happy Roger on wedding day to Keverne, which my children were mini bride and groom.
    Roger left us too soon, but he lived life the way he wanted to and that is all you can ask for.
    I had to chuckle about Stacy’s comment…most of the times I saw him, the only clothing he had on was shorts, guess he was giving it all away before I got there. I’m only 23 years behind, definitely a different generation with stories that are hard to believe, but fun to know.

    I will miss him dearly.

  • This roger guy was a good ass dude, and it shows up in his wife keverne and in her son Jason who spent alot of years being his son to. Let me tell you, I meet keverne at work and we instantly had a bond, just so you know, I’m African American, and 15 years younger than roger and I’m buying things for keverne and she’s baking for me, bringing me medicine when I was sick, leaving their house anytime I called, and this is before I even met roger. Keverne and I had a friendship for a year before I met him but when I did finally met him, I thought he would say something about the close friends keverne and I become but the first thing this lumber jack looking dude did to this inner city fashionly dressed black dude, was give me a hug 🫂, a big smile and a hug, if that doesn’t tell you the kind of man this world has lost, then nothing will. Since then everytime I visited keverne at their house I visiting roger to, I was instantly his friend also, to the point where he was able to borrow a dress shirt from me once when he needed to be more fashionable, not that the lumberjack jack look isn’t fashionable. That family would have done anything for me, with roger leading the way, I appreciate what he brought to my life, even though sparingly it always mattered especially showing me what a good person looks like. Rest in peace 🙏 my buddy, love Willis
