Richard Johnson (1935 – 2012)

Richard G. Johnson, age 76 a resident of Kenosha, died Tuesday September 11, 2012 at his residence.

Richard was born in Kenosha WI on October 4, 1935 to the late George and Marie (Kressel) Johnson. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1961. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On November 29, 1958 Richard married June Nelson in Waukegan IL. After their first son was born, they had their marriage blessed at St. Mark Catholic Church. Richard was amember of St. Mark Catholic Church. He was employed at and retired from AMC/Chrysler transporting vehicles. He then worked as a mutual teller at Dairyland Greyhound Park. He was a member of Teamster Union Local #43. He received a certificate ofmanagement in hotel-motel management from Lewis Hotel Motel School -United Technical Institute. As a young man he coached basketball at St. Mark Catholic Church and was also an umpire for many years for the city of Kenosha. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He loved both of his grandchildren and treated his step daughter as his own. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be missed dearly.

Richard is survived by his wife June, two sons George J. Johnson of Kenosha and Jeffrey Johnson of Kenosha and two grandchildren Dawn Espinosa of TN and Joseph Johnson of Kenosha. He is also survived by his sister in law Adele Binninger whom he was very close, and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Schieselamm.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday September 17, 2012 at 11:00AM at St. Mark Catholic Church (7117-14th Avenue). Visitation with the family will be on Monday at the church from 10:00AM until the time of Mass. Burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
