Patricia Mildred Singer “Grandma Pat”, age 89, a resident of Kenosha, died Thursday December 2nd 2010 at the United Hospital System with her family by her side. Born on September 21st 1921 in Milwaukee, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Clara (Schwanke) Alderson. She attended Kenosha schools and was a graduate of Bradford High School. She married Richard J. Singer on Oct 13th 1945 and raised three loving sons. After 25 years of employment as a clerk in the book store, she retired from Carthage College where she made lifelong friendships.
A truly wonderful person who was always kind and positive, Pat was known to have never said a bad word about anyone. She loved spending time with her family – her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought joy to her each day. She enjoyed taking walks around the block, visiting with friends, baking, the company of the family dog, working on crossword puzzles, watching the Wheel and Jeopardy, and shopping at her favorite “Marshall Fields” with her cousin Marge.
She is survived by two sons Dick (Mi Cha) Singer, Steven (Nancy) Singer, grandchildren Patricia H. Singer, Pamela (Michael) Ver Haag, Richard L. Singer, Kristen Singer, Ryan (Natasha Casanova) Singer, and great-grandchildren Mia Singer and Ian Ver Haag.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, both of her sisters Jean Alderson and Mildred Herholtz, her dear son Timothy Singer, and her brother Julian Alderson.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 7th 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Church in Kenosha. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Private burial will take place the next morning at St. George Cemetery.
