Mary Catherine Haws (nee Wolf) passed away peacefully at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha under the compassionate care of hospice. She was born on May 5th, 1940, in Kenosha to parents Arthur and Catherine (Salesi) Wolf. Mary graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in Racine Wisconsin in 1958.
On March 25th, 1961, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Chester Franklin Haws. Together, the shared a beautiful life, were blessed with four children, and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage – a testament to their enduring love and devotion.
She was a devoted woman whose life was centered around her deep love for family, faith, and friendship. A proud and active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, she generously gave her time and heart to her parish, assisting in numerous church festivals and events over the years. She built a dedicated career in patient accounts, working at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha and later at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, where she faithfully served for many years before retiring in 2003.
Beyond her work and faith, she found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved. She cherished camping trips with a special group of friends who became like family, treasured shopping outings with her “twin” sister, and delighted in trips to the casino. She also enjoyed playing cards, always bringing laughter and warmth to every gathering. Her kind spirit, unwavering devotion, and joyful presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Arleen Milligan, Leon (Margaret) Lennertz, Delores (Gerald) Yack and Betty (James) Boone. Also preceded by her cousin, Kathleen Kelly; nieces and nephews Jimmy Boone, Catherine (Dave) Wright, Patti Teets, Michael Wright, Michael Boone.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years Chester Franklin Haws, children Jeff (Vicki) Haws, Greg Haws, Dan Haws, Jennifer (nee Haws) Peterson, grandchildren Olivia (Matt) Sanders, Cody Haws, Rylee Peterson, Brayden Peterson, and one great granddaughter Esmeray Sanders. Also survived by a very special niece Sheri (Carl) Holborn and by Kathy Garcia who was like a daughter to her, as well as a huge and close-knit extended family who she loved very much.
Services for Mary will be held on Tuesday, April 28th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (2224 30th ave). Visitation with the family will take place at 10am, Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, and burial at St. George Catholic Cemetery immediately following Mass.
