Maria Torresin (1905 – 2012)

Maria (Mary) G. Torresin, age 107, a resident of Kenosha, passed away Saturday October 13, 2012 at St. Joseph Nursing and Rehab with her family by her side.

Maria was born on September 5, 1905 in Rossano, Italy to the late Joseph and Lucia (Milani) Guarise. On November 27, 1926 she married Louis F. Torresin in Rossano, Italy. In 1928 she traveled for three weeks by boat to begin her life in the United States. She was a member of St. Marks Christian Women and the Italian American Ladies Auxillary since 1935. In May of 1997 she was the Mother of the year. Maria loved to knit, crochet and cook and she enjoyed raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Maria is survived by two sons Gino Torresin of Dresser WI and Louis J (Irene) Torresin of Racine WI and one daughter Jina (Kenneth) Dosemagen of Somers WI. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Louis on September 27, 1971, daughter Clara Sturino, five sisters and daughter-in-law Carol Torresin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 19, 2012 at 11:00AM at St. Mark Catholic Church in Kenosha. (7117 14th Avenue) Visitation with the family will be on Friday at the church from 9:00AM until the time of mass.

Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph Nursing and Rehab or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
