Loyd Flaherty (86) went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at his home with his loving wife by his side.
Born on Oct. 21, 1931, in Vina, Alabama, he was the son of the late Frank and Stella Flaherty.
On Nov. 6, 1954, he married Selma Evonne Jackson in Fulton, Mississippi.
He worked many years as a tool grinder and was employed by American Motors. He was a member of the UAW Local #72. He retired in 1981.
Loyd was known to be very mechanically inclined and always willing to help friends and family with various projects.
He enjoyed metal and woodworking, photography, and gospel music.
He served in the US Army from 1952-1954 and was a Korean War veteran.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years and his children: Joan (Dale) Martin of Vero Beach, FL; Glenn (Sharry) Flaherty of Kenosha; Susan Flaherty of Kenosha; David (Alicia) Flaherty of OK; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Margaret Davidson.
Loyd was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Louise Harmon; and a grandson, Stephen Flaherty.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., Jan., 27, at 11:00 am at Parkside Baptist Church (2620-14th Place). Visitation with the family will be on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of services. Burial will take place later at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
