Loretta Twila Hopfenspirger, (Nee: Wilson) 91, formerly of Phoenix, AZ, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Ridgewood Care Center on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014.
She was born in Mankato, MN, on September 22, 1922, daughter of the late Lonander and Therisia (Nee: Reipke) Wilson. On July 12, 1941, in Grand Rapids, MN, she was united in marriage to the late Robert Neil Hopfenspirger. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Lyden and son-in-law Philip Lyden of Racine; granddaughters, Tiffany (Kurt Moser) Lyden of Helena, MT, Tasha (Don) Moxley of University City, MO, Mirsa (Chad) Sullivan of Janesville, WI and Maritha (Daniel) Miller of Madison, WI; and great-grandchildren, Kai and Dane Moser, Maggie, Ben, Peter, Maya and Luke Moxley, Allison and Bryce Sullivan, and Keanan and Korren Miller. Twila is further survived by seven nieces and six nephews, as well as good friends such as Carol Fox of Racine and Keith and Judy Peterson of Sun City, AZ.
Twila was a member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church of Racine. Her family has wonderful memories of spending summers with grandma and grandpa at their cottage on Lake Francis in MN, boating, fishing and playing games. In addition, she was an avid golfer and bowler. Twila will be remembered for her gentle, kind-hearted spirit and positive attitude towards life.
At Twila’s request, there will be no service. Her ashes will be spread by her family members at a personal family service.
