Loretta Jean Mack, age 68, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on December 6, 1956, to William and Jean Howell. Loretta graduated from Verdugo Hills High School, in Los Angeles. She met the love of her life, Daniel Mack at 16. The two were married on January 26, 1974, and together they travelled between California and Wisconsin before planting roots in Kenosha.
Loretta worked at Fireside for her aunt Gloria. When it was time to start a family, she and Danny opened their hearts and home to children in need through foster care. When their daughter came along, Loretta started her own in-home daycare business, where she lovingly cared for countless children over the years. In her later years, she retired from childcare and moved into retail, working for Hanes Brands, where she met one of her dearest friends.
Known affectionately as “Retta,” she had a love for bingo, trips to the casino, and cheering on her beloved Green Bay Packers, always yelling “Go, Pack, Go!” Whether she was playing her favorite Facebook games, heading out for a mani/pedi, or enjoying breakfast at Hillcrest, Loretta brought joy and laughter wherever she went.
Above all, her greatest pride was her family—raising her daughter and becoming “Grandma Retta” to Matteo and Layne, who lit up her world. She and Danny shared a beautiful 52 years together, celebrating every one with love and gratitude. In her own words, “It was a life well spent.”
Loretta is survived by her mother, Jean Howell; her devoted husband, Danny; her daughter, Carisa (Nick); her beloved bonus grandbabies, Matteo and Layne; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Loretta’s life will be held at the Kemper Center – Founder’s Hall on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by a service from 2:00 to 2:30 PM.
Flowers may be sent to Kemper Center Founder’s Hall.
Go, Pack, Go.
