Kelly Morris Grissom

Kelly Morris Grissom, age 80, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving children, siblings, extended family, and dear friends. Born on July 22, 1944, in Red Bay, Alabama, Kelly was the cherished son of the late Noel and Ruby Grissom.

Kelly had a deep love for learning and a heart for teaching. He pursued his calling in education by studying at Lee University in Tennessee and Carthage College in Wisconsin. Over the course of more than 30 years, he faithfully served as a teacher in both public and private schools across Georgia, Florida, and Wisconsin, touching countless lives through his dedication, patience, and encouragement.

He is survived by his daughter Jeanna Terry and son Craig Grissom, who will carry forward his wisdom, warmth, and unwavering faith. He was a proud grandfather to Raheem, John, Annabelle, Ethan, and Tucker, and great-grandfather to Alayja, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Kelly was preceded in death by his beloved sister Joyce Taylor and is survived by his brother Harold Grissom and sister Janice Nichols. His siblings and their families remained close to his heart throughout his life, and their bond was one of the many testaments to his loving spirit.

Those who knew Kelly knew a man of deep faith, steady kindness, and quiet generosity. He loved Jesus wholeheartedly and lived that love out loud, giving selflessly, encouraging others, and being a steadfast friend to many. Whether he was taking a walk in the sunshine, immersed in a good book, chatting over a meal at senior dining, attending church, or texting sweet words to his children and grandchildren, Kelly’s presence was always gentle and full of love.

On April 5, Kelly suffered a stroke. Even in his final days, his room was filled with peace, prayer, and the voices of those who loved him. His passing leaves a space in the hearts of many, but his legacy of faith, compassion, and connection lives on.

A gathering to celebrate Kelly’s life will be held in Kenosha, Wisconsin (details coming soon).  Kelly Grissom lived a life that overflowed with grace, generosity, and love. He let his light shine—and in doing so, he lit the way for many. He will be deeply missed.

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

— Matthew 5:16
