Katherine Mary Clare Chase (1930-2012)

Katherine Mary Clare Chase, age 82, a resident of  Kenosha, died Friday November 30, 2012 at United Hospital System Kenosha Medical Center.

Born on March 10, 1930 in Glasgow Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Dr. George and Janet (Gibson) McOwan. Katherine was educated in Singapore, Glasgow and Edinburgh. In London, Katherine married James William Chase in December 1961.

Katherine was a home health aide/caregiver holding private duty jobs.  She spoke French and was proud that she could read Latin. She loved animals and loved working with dogs. She spent time competitively showing dogs for over 40 years. Katherine “finished 3 dogs” and achieved AKC Championship status with 3 dogs. She was a member of the Tibeten Terrier Club of America and was very knowledgeable about all breeds of dogs. Katherine was also very active with neighborhood concerns. She was an avid reader and loved to do crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three sons Kevin Chase of Kenosha, Bill (Julie) Chase of Mt. Pleasant WI and David (Susan) Chase of Holmen WI and one daughter Janice (Chris) Frillmann of Kenosha. She is also survived by three grandchildren Matthew Swartz, Benjamin Chase and Violet Chase. Katherine is further survived by two sisters Alison (Terry) Holmes of Pocklington York, UK and Elspeth Stewart of Fife, Scotland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother Graeme McOwan and husband James in January 1996.
