John Melander, age 56, a resident of Kenosha died Monday January 7, 2013 at his residence.
John was born in Marshall MN to the late John Andrew and Leona Mae (Van Vinkle) Melander. He moved to Kenosha as a child. He attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. John graduated from Lake County College in 1987. He was employed at Chrysler Corporation as a millwright. John was a member of Local 72. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving and all outdoor activities in his younger years. He also enjoyed walking, reading and doing crossword puzzles. He enjoyed the Packers and playing cribbage, loved his summer place in Lake Delton and his favorite dog Lady. His retirement was filled with the wonderful times he spent with his loving grandchildren. He loved pecan pie and sharing ice cream bars with the grandkids.
John is survived by his wife Mary Jane, sons John Melander, Jr of Chippewa Falls and James (Tara) Melander of Kenosha, and daughter Kristen (Marc) Manderfield of Racine. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Mason, Evan, Brody, Colton and Madison. He is further survived by his brother Mark (Vicky) Melander of Kenosha, sister Sheila (George) Regas of Waukegan IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday January 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Kemper Center Founders Hall (6501 3rd Avenue). Visitation with the family will be held on Friday at Founders Hall at 10:00 AM until the time of service.
