John Lagodich, age 92, longtime resident of Kenosha passed away into his new heavenly home, Monday January 16, 2012.
Born in New York City on February 15, 1919 to the late Stephen and Katherine Lagodich, John spent his youth in Poland. In 1938 shortly before Hitler’s invasion, John arrived back in the U.S. He did not see his brother again until Communism fell in 1991.
On July 5, 1944 while serving as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne he met and married a WAC, Virtue Monta of Kenosha. After the war John worked for Simmons, Snap On, and White Welding as a mechanical draftsman.
John is survived by four children Mary Lagodich of Kenosha, Sergei (Katie) Lagodich of Hailey, ID, Simeon (Tracy) Lagodich of New York NY, and Ivan (Elena Maria) Lagodich of Kenosha and three beautiful granddaughters Lara (Erik) Dietrich, Grace Lagodich, and Lucie Valentine Gill-Lagodich.
John is preceded in death by his wife Virtue and daughter Valentine Hoff.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday January 20, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Prayer House Assembly of God (1525 24th Avenue). Visitation with the family will be held on Friday at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Private burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
