Joan Wright (1944 – 2012)

Joan Christine Wright age 66 a resident of Sturtevant WI died Monday May 7, 2012 peacefully while surrounded by her family at her residence.

Joan was born December 12, 1944, in Milwaukee to the late Vincent and Celia (nee: Lepkowski) Dudek, and she was a graduate of South Milwaukee High School. On November 6, 1965, she was joined at St. Adalbert?s Church in holy matrimony to her beloved husband and best friend, Alex Wright, and they moved to Racine soon after.

Although she considered herself first to be a homemaker and mother to her three daughters, Joan was employed at Ametek (Racine) for 34 years. She then became a home health-care companion and volunteered at Aurora Medical Center (Kenosha). Finally, she worked at Kwik-Trip (Hwy 20, Sturtevant), a job she greatly enjoyed and where she met many new friends.

Joan and Alex often traveled and took recent vacations with cousins Ron and Cathy. More than anything, though, Joan loved relaxing and spending time with her family and friends at their vacation home near Wild Rose, WI.

Surviving are her loving husband Alex, devoted daughters Brenda (Michael) Gudbaur and Sandra Holub (Joseph Smorada) of Racine and Linda (Chris) Denton of Sparta, WI; beloved grandchildren Hannah and Sarah Gudbaur, Alexandria and Hunter Holub, and Kenneth, Jacob and Zachary Denton; brother David (Lucy) Dudek of Kenosha; sisters Mary Ann Majewski, Milwaukee, and Barbara (Pat) Loppnow of Caledonia; sister-in-law Rochelle Dudek of New Berlin, WI; and, special friend Mindy.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, by her brother Louis Dudek and beloved aunt and uncle Leona and Wally.

Joan was and continues to be an inspiration to her friends and family through her strength, generosity and kindness. She wished to thank all those people who brought happiness to her life and made all her problems seem small. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Ruggeri and all the kind people who took part in Joan?s care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 10th 2012 at 11:00AM at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. (3030-95th Street, Sturtevant WI) Visitation with the family will be on Thursday at the church from 9:00AM until the time of mass.

In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
