Jimmy “Jim” Lee Bessette

Jimmy “Jim” Lee Bessette, age 46, of Kenosha, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by those he loved. He was born on February 27th, 1979, in Clintonville, WI, to Joseph Kolosso and Linda (Jepson) Bessette. On March 21st, 2015, on the beaches of Puerto Rico, he married the love of his life and soulmate, Rachel Vincent and remained faithfully married to her until his passing. Together they enjoyed 10 happy years together married, 12 years together in total, and had 3 beautiful children.

Jim always loved to tinker. He was always doing something in the garage; whether it was crafting one of the many heirloom woodworking pieces for his wife, children and others, to riding on his four-wheeler, to working on his beautiful classic cars. Jim cherished going on rides in his Cuda with his wife and kids, and also in car shows.  He accomplished all of his goals, including getting his Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from UW-Stout, and an MBA afterward.

Jim cherished his wife and children the most. They showed him what pure love was and how to love unconditionally. He loved playing with his kids, going out to eat, traveling whenever he, his wife and kids had the chance to, and going to as many rock concerts as he and Rachel could. An avid lover of the Green Bay Packers, and Papa John’s pizza Sundays with his family, he always loved being around his precious children and wife. Jim also enjoyed going up north to Michigan at his wife’s parents home to relax and visit his twin daughters who are buried there.

He is survived by his wife Rachel Bessette, children: Zane, Jacoby, and Xenia, his furbabies: Caleb and Bisker, mother: Linda Bessette, siblings: Dave (Rebecca Bessette, Charles (Tina) Bessette and Menessa (Tom) Pues, father-in-law: Scott Vincent, brother-in-law: Scott Vincent, as well as many other relatives and cherished friends. He is preceded in death by his father: Joseph, twin daughters: Sophia and Lydia, mother-in-law: Jane Vincent, and brothers: Tavis Bessette and Rick Kolosso.

The family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Weathers and Dr. Ferguson at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Dr. Cronk at Froedtert South Cancer Center for providing the best and most compassionate care to Jim and his family during his courageous 19.5 year fight with brain cancer. Jim was a hero, a survivor, a warrior, and the strongest man who had a pure diamond heart, as described by his son, Zane. Always wanting to fight to wake up and see his wife and children, he always said to his wife that seeing them was the best part of his day. Not only was he a warrior to brain cancer, but he also was 13.5 years sober. Every day with his little family was the best day of his life.

As per the family’s wishes, a celebration of life will be announced later.

Thought for Jimmy “Jim” Lee Bessette

  • Dr. Farris Saifkani says:

My wife and I are heart broken hearing about Jimmy’s passing. I had many years of wonderful friendships, professional and personal relationships with Jimmy and his fiancé and later his wife Rachel throughout his higher education journey at both UW Stout and NWTC. He was one of the top students in all of my classes from his 1st year throughout his senior year at UW Stout. His performance and persistence were impressive and outstanding. Jimmy never settled for less, I admired him for that same trait. He always took leadership in classroom assignments, projects and extracurricular activities by exciting his peers to complete tasks in hand. I truly miss Jimmy. My wife Farrah also had the opportunity to know Jimmy, Rachel and Zane when he was born and growing up. Jimmy took the leadership in becoming the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, SME, student chapter lead officer for many years and continued to support his involvements with the Student organization he pioneered even after graduation. I’m very saddened that Jimmy is not with us in a physical world, however, his spirit will be always with me throughout life. I wish to send our condolences to Rachel, families and his children. God bless all of you.
