Janet L. Clancy

Janet L. Clancy, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha.  She was 72.

Janet was born to the late Asher and Helen (Allen) Matayosian in Waukegan, Illinois.  She attended Holy Child High School and was a graduate of the class of 1969.  She married Michael Clancy on July 21, 1973, and had three wonderful children.

Janet was employed for many years as a very gifted floral designer for Balmes Flower Shop in North Chicago, IL and several more years until she retired at Larsen Florist in Waukegan, IL.

Janet moved to Kenosha eight years ago and became a parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church.  She proudly served the church as both a sacristan as well as a reader,

In addition to creating beautiful floral pieces, Janet enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking for her friends and family.  She also loved to shop and go antiquing with friends.  However, her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren and her pets.  

She is survived by her children Meghan (Edward) Leslie, Patrick Clancy, and Emily (Matthew) Beake.  Also, her most precious gifts, her five grandchildren, Aidan, Jenna, Lauren, Audrey, and Ellis.   She is further survived by her loving sister Judy (Randy) Shwaiko, sister-in-law Theresa (Stephen) Purcell, and brother-in-law Richard (Joy) Clancy.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Michael, brother-in-law Thomas Duffy, as well as her beloved sister Sandra Duffy. 

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 11 o’clock at St. Mark Catholic Church (7117 14th. Ave.).  A visitation with the family will take place at St. Mark’s from 10 o’clock until the time of the mass.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Center Kenosha, the At Home Care team, and the hospice team for their amazing care and compassion throughout Janet’s journey and stay at the hospital.

    So sorry for your loss, Jan was a very sweet lady, she was our neighbor and would always stop and say hello to our little boy when we would be walking down the street and she would see him while passing by in her pt cruiser.
