It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Shidagis, aged 78, on April 1, 2026. Jim passed away peacefully at his residence at Willowbrook Assisted Living, surrounded by the love and care of those who cherished him deeply.
Born on January 27, 1948, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to Joseph C. and Virginia S. (Schilling) Shidagis, Jim was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was predeceased by his parents, his three brothers—Donald, Ronald, and Gerald—and his dearest friends, Daniel and Michael Galley. Jim leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will be carried on by his sister-in-law, Diana Shidagis; his niece, Dionne (Lee) Shidagis Kujawa; his nephew, Jerry Shidagis; and his special friends, Beth Morgan and Matthew Galley.
Jim was a proud graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School, class of 1966. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force. From 1967 to 1971, he served with honor as Chief Clerk at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam, a period of his life he often reminisced about with great pride.
Upon returning to Kenosha, Jim became a well-known figure in the local community through his dedicated service in the retail sector. Over several decades, he formed lasting connections with customers and colleagues alike at Ace Hardware and Walgreens. His commitment to service made him a beloved presence in the lives of many.
Jim’s passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid fan of outdoor activities, frequently attending local church festivals and music events. He found great joy in the camaraderie of Milwaukee Brewers games, where he was often seen manning the grill during lively tailgating gatherings.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held this summer, with further details to follow. This gathering will be a testament to the countless lives he touched and the memories he helped create.
Jim’s family and friends extend their deepest gratitude to the residents and staff of Willowbrook Assisted Living, where Jim resided for the past seven years, for their unwavering support and compassion. A special thank you goes to Hospice Alliance for their tender care during Jim’s final days.
Jim Shidagis will be remembered for his lively spirit, love for his community, and the joy he brought into the lives of many. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, reunited with those he loved who went before him.

Jim’s passing is a great loss to all of us who loved him. I will always hold the memories Danny and I shared with Jimmy, close to my heart. We had so many great times at our summer get away, Pride Of America Campground. Jim was part of our family for Holidays for as long as I can remember. I will honor Jim, by going to The Spot and having a “hamburger with everything & grilled onions, fries and a chocolate malt. I’m sure he has already had a few “COOL ONES” with Danny & Mike.

Even though I moved away 39 yrs ago my annual visits to Kenosha to see family Jim was always part of the “welcome home Snooks party.” Ballgames, BBQ’s & Hob Nob anniversary celebrations.
