James “Opie” Barnhill, age 36, of Pleasant Prairie, was born to eternal life on Monday December 28th 2015 at his home.
Opie was born on May 15th, 1979 in Kenosha to James and Mary (DeFault) Barnhill. He attended local schools and graduated fromTremper High School in 1997. Growing up, Opie loved to tinker with mechanics, repair machines and build things. This love blossomed into his career as “Jack of All Trades”.
Opie also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman on local lakes. From time to time he also loved to go deep sea fishing with family and friends in the Florida Keys.
In 2008, Opie and his girlfriend Nicole Kieffer welcomed the birth of their son James Christopher III with open arms.
Opie was a gentle soul, a devoted father, and a loving son, brother and nephew. He will be forever remembered by his parents James Barnhill and Mary Niles, his girlfriend and the mother of his son Nicole Kieffer, his sisters Maria Barnhill, Christina Barnhill and his niece Mia Barnhill.
The light and love that was Opie will live on in his son James Christopher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday January 2nd, 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (1300-73rd Street). Visitation with the family will take place on Saturday at the church from 9:30 until the time of services. Internment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a memorial fund for James Christopher would be appreciated by Opie’s family.
