Gene Vernon Raymond

Gene V. Raymond, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 25th 2026 at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born on January 14th, 1942 in Kenosha WI, the son of Vernon and Dorothy (Herrmann) Raymond.

Gene attended St. George Catholic school and graduated from St. Joseph’s High school in Kenosha. On August 26th, 1961 he was united in marriage to Susan L. Zemaitis and together they raised two loving daughters, Lynn and Lisa. Together for 25 years Gene and Susan successfully owned and operated Raymonds Pro Hardware. Gene then went on to start up Handy Home Repair, and after semi retiring, he worked as a courier for Southport Bank/First American Bank. Once Gene was fully retired, he spent his time as a dedicated volunteer for the Kenosha Civil War Museum, the Dinosaur Discovery Museum, Anderson Arts Center and Kemper Center. Throughout his life Gene enjoyed his daily drives by the lake, classic cars, bowling, and volunteering where and when he could.

Gene leaves behind his two daughters; Lynn Raymond, and Lisa Cole, his 3 grandchildren; Zachary Zeyen (Latisha Zeyen), Alexis Zeyen (Sedge Herrick) and Camryn Cole (Bailey Hauser), two great grandchildren; Isaac and Brody Zeyen, his sister Patricia Knutson and many nieces, nephews and friends to cherish all the memories everyone has shared over the years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Judy Johnson and Mary Arndt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 4th, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church (714 49th Street Kenosha 53140) Visitation with the family and friends will be from 9:00am until the start of Mass at 10:00am. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery.
