Gary Roland Braun

Gary Roland Braun, age 78, of Kenosha, passed away at Froedtert South Hospital in Pleasant Prairie on September 30th, 2025, while surrounded by friends and family. Gary was born on February 24th, 1947, in the Waukegan to the late Roland Braun and Marie (Verhagen). He was a proud United States Marine and bravely served his country from 1966 to 1970. He was a Vietnam Veteran. On November 26th, 1983, he married Dolores Sherwood at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan, IL.

Gary was a life member of the Marine Corps League Detachment #801 in Lake County, Illinois. He was an enthusiastic golfer, fisherman and hunter. Those who knew him will remember his endless storytelling, infectious laughter and mischievous spirit.

He is survived by his wife Dolores Braun, daughters: Jaime Groth and Tina (Eddie) Garcia, stepchildren: Robert (Deanne) Sherwood and Robin (Steve Koetz) Sherwood, grandchildren: Jace Garcia, Daniel Garcia and Julia Koetz, niece: Sandra Druba and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: June Druba, Marlene Constantino and Donald Braun. 

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at Kemper Center Founder’s Hall on Friday, October 31st, 2025, at 12 P.M. A visitation will also be held at Kemper Center from 11 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers donations to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program and the Alzheimer’s Foundation are appreciated.
