Fidel Guardiola Sr.

Fidel Guardiola Sr., age 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022 at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove, where he resided for the last fourteen months. He was a longtime resident in Wind Lake, WI until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement, he went home to the family house in Eagle Pass, TX.

Fidel was born in Crystal City, TX on April 24, 1935 to Ramon Guardiola and Felisitas Garza. He married Esperanza Lopez Alvarado in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico on April 16th, 1962. He and Esperanza raised their eight (8) children in Eagle Pass, TX and Wind Lake, WI. He very much enjoyed going to Catholic mass, until later in life, but remained true in his deep faith in God. He dedicated 36 years to Deak’s Sod Farm, forming lifelong bonds with the Deak family and many, many others in the community. For that he was always grateful. Fidel will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of children, his passion for reading and his gift of gab. He loved long conversations.

Fidel loved all of his children, his grandchildren and his great grandkids. They in turn loved him very much and each will forever carry the memories of all that he was and did for them. We are all so very blessed to have had him as our dad, our grandpa, and our great grandpa.

His is survived by six (6) children; Fidel Guardiola Jr (Patty), Maria Felisitas Santos (Roldan), Alberto/Beto Guardiola (Marti), Margarita Titze (David), Noel Guardiola and Lucy Guardiola.

His eighteen (18) grandchildren; Nikki, Joel (Trisha), Alberto/Tito (Stephanie), Gina (Larry), Melanie, Michael (Lauree), Laura, Leilah, Leavanna, Lorena, Lathan, Sean (Elise), Sara, Joey, Jaykie, Matt, Luke and Mandy.

His nineteen (19) great grandkids; Cassidy, Jackson, Joelle (Jojo), Everly, Hayden, Tanner, Cayden, Adrian, Ariyana, Jaxon, Kingsley, Lorenzo, Lottie, Mariee, Mackenzie, Orion, Luke, Wolf and Masyn.

Fidel has three (3) surviving brothers in Eagle Pass, TX; Pablo (Juanita), Roberto (Angela) and Alejandro (Marta). He was one of eight (8).

He was preceded in death by his son Joel (Jojo), his son Adrian/Chano, his daughter-in-law Brenda, his grandson Elijah and his wife of 38 years, Esperanza. He missed her every day that she was gone, and we all know that he is in a much happier place now that he is with them again. Fidel was also preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and many other family members and good friends.

Fidel wished to be cremated. Please join his family for a celebration of his life on Saturday, September 17th at Kelly’s Bleachers Wind Lake, 7805 S Loomis Road from 11:00am to 2:00pm. A luncheon will be served.

The family extends thanks to the hospice care team and to Oak Ridge Care Center.

Thoughts for Fidel Guardiola Sr.;

  • Kenny and I are so sorry. I never met this great man, but he raised wonderful children whom I am blessed to know. We love you all.

  • Chris Collins Deak says:

    Such a beautifully written Obituary. I was very blessed to have known Fidel . He was such a good man and a hard worker. I know that because he worked for many years for my Dad at the Sod Farm. I worked part time at the office upstairs and I have great memories , when Fidel would stop by the office to check on a sod order , or let my Dad know about a part needed for the sod harvestor , or to report on the irrigation and sprinkler system that needed to be moved . So many wonderful memories. I send warm thoughts and prayers to the entire Guardiola family at this difficult time. Rest In Peace , Fidel .

  • Roberto Guardiola says:

    God has one more angel. You’ll always be in my heart, and mind. Rest In Peace my beloved brother.

  • Rick and Kay Deak says:

    I have 36 years of fond memories of Fidel from the day he arrived at the farm. His leadership skills immediately got him the boss of the sod crew until his retirement in 2000. During it all he did what ever was needed to keep things going. His motto was”It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. It was a life lesson for me I try to practice every day. God bless you my friend. Kay and I offer our feelings of loss and love Fidel’s children and close knit family.
