Chad P. Hoelzel

Chad Patrick Hoelzel, age 36, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 24th, 1989, in Appleton, Wisconsin to Ken and Theresa (McKone) Hoelzel, Chad graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering. Chad had a passion for many hobbies and interests including, but not limited to, disc golf, cycling, running, roller coasters, traveling, beer, bourbon, headphones, and music of all types – his favorite symphony composer being Gustav Mahler. Chad was known for his tenacious spirit and magnetic personality. He enjoyed driving his Miata to new places and met new people wherever he went.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; his parents Ken and Theresa (McKone) Hoelzel; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins; and loving friends that he treated like family. He is predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 27th, 2-4pm at the Kemper Center, 6501 3rd Ave in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Chad will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

  • Met Chad in 2021 but didn’t grow closer as friends until 2022.
Such a kind soul who was always looking out, always smiling, always laughing, even with everything that was going on.
So sad to know you’ve gone. I knew as the months went by that it was inevitable, but that makes it hurt even more.
I know puppy Leopold, kitty Basil, and your wife Julie feel blessed to have shared such a warm loving home with you.
    Rest in peace my friend💔🕊️

  • Sorocchungus says:

I knew you as Eric Garbo. You were a great poster, a silly little guy, an unapologetic in your convictions of right and wrong.

    I miss you.
    I love you, man.

  • Stephen "Doc" Watson says:

Though I never got to physically meet him, I had the good fortune to be able to know Chad through the Internet. Getting to know him taught me a lot about how to approach life, and I think of those lessons often. Thanks for everything, Chad, and rest easy 🫂

  • Ben, aka "ennui" says:

Like Doc above, I never got to meet Chad in person. What we did have was a tremendous amount in common. From cycling to music to our shared distaste for Microsoft, Chad was a constant bright spot in our little internet community. That same community helped me keep my own head above water during difficult times, so to lose him is a profound loss. Rest easy, EG. 🫂
