Carmella Jean Chapman

Carmella (Cristiano) Chapman entered into eternal rest on June 6th, 2026. Born to John and Marie (Del Frate) Cristiano. Carmella grew up rooted in her faith and community, attending Holy Rosary before graduating from St. Joseph’s High School and continuing her studies at Gateway. In May 1976, she married Gerald Chapman, beginning a devotion that spanned decades of love, partnership and happiness.

Carmella chose to volunteer at Head Start and teach parents how to sew clothing for their children as well as held fashion shows with these same parents. She also volunteered as a youth bowling coach. Carmella loved to sew, bowl, and she never met a bingo ball or hall that she didn’t love. Carmella also had her own Drapery business Carm’s Creations until she retired. 

Carmella is survived by her children and step children: Debbie (Freitag) Schuster, Wally Freitag, Jeremy Chapman, Kathy (Gus) MacRides (Chapman), Ana Benedict (Chapman), Sheila (Darrell) Seibold (Chapman), and Jamie Chapman. She was also survived by 19 cherished grandchildren as well as many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind her sisters Lucy (Buzz) Garris (Cristiano), Anita Gasser (Cristiano), and her brothers Nello (Donna) Cristiano and John (Ruth) Cristiano. She was proceeded in death by her husband Gerald, her parents John and Marie Cristiano, and her Aunts Olga Randall, Jean Del Frate, and Rose Del Frate.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Carmella’s memory to The Hospice Alliance, Hospice House for their cost Offset program, or the MACC Fund.

The funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (7307 40th Ave Kenosha WI 53142) on June 26th,10am visitation with a 11am Mass. Private family burial will be held at a later date.

    Anita,Lucille,Nello and John,please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of Carmella. I have some wonderful memories of hanging out with her and Anita,back in the Holy Rosary school years. Asking the Good Lord to give all of you and her children strength as you all go through this very sad and difficult time.
