Must have been the spring of 1971. A day after school at Lincoln junior high school in Kenosha. On our way home, we noticed the ice on the lagoon in the park was breaking apart. There were five of us, and we started to jump onto the ice chunks in a kind of game of chicken. Brian was there for sure, I recall him egging us on. We took turns for a good 45 minutes. The weather was perfect that day, out of the ice cold water. Nature was waiting for us to fail at our game.
We did not fall, or fail, but had a great time. Nature won in the end with my friend Brian, as it always has. However, we danced around on that ice in its face that day, and won.
