Mike Serpe says:
Our hearts are filled with too much sadness for words. One of the kindest, wisest, witty and urbane people I have ever know has taken his totally unexpected leave of our company.
There is no way to adequately express the sorrow that his dear family and hundreds of friends are feeling now and the sense of terrible loss that will be with us forever.
Joan, we love you and the family as much as we do our own and will always treasure the love and laughter that we shared.
Michael, you were my best friend. I love you and will miss you more that I can say.

Bryant Walrod says:
With complete sincerity, I can honestly say that I have never met anyone like Judge Wilk. He was an inspiration on so many levels. He was the quiet supporter, always rooting for you, giving you strength. He was a role model for me in the way that he carried himself…complete altruism. He achieved so much but always gave and never asked for anything in return. He adored Joan, like a throwback novel where he was the head over heels kid falling in love for the first time. He was an amazing father and grandfather to an incredible family. And he was a gentleman… in the purest sense of the word, treating everyone with respect and integrity. Judge Wilk is sorely missed but he will never be forgotten. I miss you already.
Dennis Moroney says:
My condolences to the family. I first met Mike in the early 1980s when we had a case involving the Wilmot Ski Area. He was such a gentleman. We both became judges in the earl 1990s, and I always marveled at his ability to make a difficult legal issue into an understandable situation able to be resolved. He will be missed as a husband, father, grandfather, judge and friend.
Linda K Pedersen says:

Mike, I always wondered what was under that beard? so happy we met, being a friend of Joan has always been a gift. Alpena Girls grieve with our friend. Love always, Bob and Linda Pedersen
