Walburga “Wally” Luchinski (Schlampp), age 95, of Racine, passed away peacefully at her home, on October 6, 2024.
Wally was born on September 8, 1929 in Buxheim, Germany. She immigrated to America in 1955, hoping to find work and start a life. She married William Luchinski on July 21, 1959 in Dubuque, IA. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1986. Wally lived in Racine for 69 years. She worked for many years as a book binder at Western Publishing Company, retiring in 1993 after 38 years of employment.
Wally was a very independent woman, always taking care of herself and everyone around her. She was extremely generous and she especially loved giving everyone gifts, but she was most generous with her time. Helping and caring for others gave Wally great pleasure and joy; she never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. In her later years, Wally developed a passion for crocheting hats. She donated and gifted them as often as she could. Her greatest joy, however, was her family and spending time with them. Wally will be lovingly remembered for her generosity, kindness, and her wonderful German accent.
She is survived by her son Danny (Tina) Luchinski; grandchildren Kyle (Ashley) Luchinski and Chelsea (Brenden) Bisciglia. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Leo Luchinski, Emilia Luchinski, Adriana Bisciglia, and Elena Bisciglia.
She is preceded in death by her husband William Luchinski; parents Johann and Anna Schlampp; siblings Anny (Mieczyslaw) Szymandera; and two brothers Johann (Margit) and Petar.
A celebration of life for Wally will be held on Friday, October 18th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., Racine, WI, at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated with charities to be designated at a later date.
