Voja Radovanovic, age 93, of Kenosha, died at Brookdale Care Center in Pleasant Prairie on Sunday August 21, 2016.
Voja was born December 12, 1922 in Priboy,Yugoslavia, the son of Djoko and Ruza (Sandic) Radovanovic. Voja was a guerilla fighter in the Yugoslavian Army. He was captured by the Nazis and spent three years as a prisoner of war. On September 10, 1949, he was married to Ingrid Fischer in Dortmund Germany. They immigrated to the United States in 1951 and raised four children together. She preceded him in death in 2009.
Voja worked at AMC/Chrysler until his retirement. He loved traveling, gardening and cooking. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and always relished a good discussion about politics. He was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church.
Voja is survived by his children, Zarko (Deborah) Radovanovic, Misha Radovanovic and Gudrun (Harvey) Dam, all of Kenosha, and Vera “Toots” (Darryl) Kozak of Tucson AZ as well as his nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Dusan and Cvetko and his sisters Slavka, Navanka and Desca, all of Yugoslavia.
Funeral services will take place on Friday August 26, 2016 at 10:00AM at St. George Serbian Church (6108-Braun Rd.). Visitation with the family will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30AM until the time of the service. Burial will take place immediately following the services at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery Cemetery (32377-N.Milwaukee Ave Libertyville IL).
