Terrence John O’Byrne Sr., age 78, of Kenosha, passed away on January 2nd, 2025, at Froedtert South in Pleasant Prairie. He was born on June 10th, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late John O’Byrne and Wanda Reynolds. On October 21st, 1967, he married Laura J. Webb of Skokie, IL, and remained faithfully married to her until his passing. He and Laura moved around northern Illinois, and spent 18 years in Mundelein, IL, and in 1997, made a home in Kenosha. After completing his high school education, he was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for 6 and a half years and bravely served for a number of those years in the Vietnam war. His military service was something he was very proud of. After his honorable service, he worked for various companies during his career, but namely as a forklift operator, retiring in 2010. He was a champion dart player, self-proclaimed skilled ping pong player, great at horseshoes, corn hole “bags”, and many others. He loved taking part in friendly competition with his friends and family. He was fondly known by his loved ones as a master joke teller and loved making people laugh. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and loved Irish music. He also loved collecting his Budweiser mugs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years: Laura O’Byrne, children: Ann Marie (Richard) Blackshaw, Terrence O’Byrne Jr., Patricia (Donald) Weidner, Christopher (Cheryl) O’Byrne, and, grandchildren: Ashley Betke, Amanda Betke, Adam (Kristin) Blackshaw, Alex Blackshaw, Nick (Jessica) Blackshaw, Joseph (Katie) Weidner, Jessica Weidner, and Ethan O’Byrne and 10 great grandchildren, siblings: Michael O’Byrne and Sandy (John) Casey, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other living relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Anne O’Byrne.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Froedtert South in Pleasant Prairie for all their kind compassion and care in the final days of Terrence’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove in Terrence’s name.
A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
