Teene Omelianchuk, age 96, a resident of Somers, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at Manor Care.
Born January 16, 1918 in ZionIL, Teene was the daughter of the late Vasily Titus and Exenia (Sololanchuk) Omelianchuk. Teene graduated from school in ZionIL. Teene worked at American Motors and retired in 1975 after 33 years. Although she never had children of her own, Teene was a mother to many.
Teene was truly a kind and generous person. She loved to bake and paint porcelain dolls, Christmas ornaments and figurines. Her work was admired by many at the Carthage College Craft Fair. Teene was a die-hard Cubs fan who went to the 1945 World Series.
Teene is survived by two sisters; Maryon Nordenstrom of ChandlerAZ and Vera “Bunny” Lasco of Kenosha WI. Teene is also survived by many nieces and nephews who considered her their second mother.
Teene was preceded in death by her parents; by her two brothers Daniel and Paul and by her four sisters Mary Beck, Pearl Giannola, Anne Luden and Grace Stipanuk. Her special niece Janet Cardinali also preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Tenne’s 96 years of life.
