Susan Mary Lorber, age 72, of Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Susan was born February 1st, 1954, in Milwaukee to Ruth (Kraniak) and Irving Niles. Ruth and Irving passed away when Susan was a teenager and her wonderful, and loving, Aunt Peggy and Uncle Buddy Smith raised Susan and her siblings. Susan graduated from Dominican High in Whitefish Bay and earned a BS in Dietetics from UW-Stevens Point in 1977. She was passionate about her profession, impacting countless lives during a 47-year career as a clinical dietician. Susan was a devoted wife to Michael Lorber for 38 years, a loving mother to her two children, Sarah and Stephen, and the most loving grandmother to Jack. Susan enjoyed gardening, camping, road trips, national parks, beer gardens, old movies, cross stitching, and baking her famous bread. She was known for her endless kindness, bright demeanor, warmth, sense of adventure, and abundance of love. She is survived by her husband, Michael; children, Sarah (Jim) Dykstra, and Stephen Lorber; grandson Jack Dykstra; sisters and brothers, Joanie Devlin, Betsy (Greg) Movrich, MaryEllen (Dan) Stocking, David (Carol) Niles, Kristin (Jay) Dillig, Sally (Phil) LaRosa, and Dan Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Irving; siblings Patrick Niles and Michael Niles; and brother-in-law John Devlin. Susan was a kind and beautiful soul and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The visitation will be held on Monday, September 8th from 4-6 PM at the DeKoven Center – Great Hall, 2000 Wisconsin Ave, Racine.
