Shirley Grace DeMarco, age 89, a resident of Kenosha passed away on Monday April 27th, 2015 at her home with her family by her side.
Shirley was born September 6th, 1925 in Kenosha to Peter and Bertha (Goodman) Turkelson. She attended Durkee Elementary School, Washington Junior High School and she graduated from Bradford High School. On September 15th, 1945 she was united in marriage with Anthony “Tony” DeMarco at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church. They had three children together; two sons and a daughter. Tony preceded her in death in 2008.
Shirley worked in the Kenosha Unified School District’s lunch program and she belonged to the Districts Union 168. She was an avid fan of the Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. She was the best homemaker and the best cook ever. Her sons Jim and Mike loved having dinner with her every Thursday and Friday night, with her home cooking. She was a member of the Senior Action Council and sang with the RSVP Master Chorus. She enjoyed spending time at the Kenosha Senior Citizen’s Center. Shirley attended the Christian Science Church of Racine.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her two sons; James (Debby) DeMarco, and Michael (Dawn) DeMarco, both of Kenosha. She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren Tom (Tracy) Pataska, Cheryl (John) Pataska, Brian (Tania) DeMarco, Joe DeMarco, Scott (Jen) DeMarco, Nick DeMarco and step-grandchildren Jeannie (Adam) Krueger and Jeffrey Raddatz, as well as her great grandchildren Matthew, Sammy, Jordyn and one “on the way” and her step-great grandchildren Brandon and Alex. She will also be missed by her families’ faithful canine companions Lilly and Hunter.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tony, her daughter Susan Ruth Pataska, her brother Roger and her sisters Ruth and Marjorie
A private family service will be held for Shirley and her family will delight in sharing the memories they have of her. Private inurnment next to her husband will happen at a later date.
