Sharon J. Karabetsos, 72, of Kenosha passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Froedtert South. Sharon was born to Robert A. and Jessica (Ruffalo) Madison on July 3, 1945 in Kenosha. She was an only child, and although she loved her mother dearly, she was truly a daddy’s girl. Sharon shared stories of her dad scooping her up and running downstairs with her whenever her mom wanted to spank her. Her beautiful heart and easy-going personality reflected his spirit.
Sharon attended school in Kenosha and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1963. She met a dashing young Marine, George Karabetsos, and fell in love. They were married in 1968 and had three daughters: Nicole (Sean) Terman, Jakelyn Karabetsos and Brianne Karabetsos, all of whom gave her tremendous joy and plenty of gray hair.
Sharon worked for Kenosha Unified School District in numerous grade schools for over 30 years, where her infectious smile and big heart touched the lives of hundreds of children. She loved to share that it was the naughty ones who usually ended up taking the biggest place in her heart. All of the students loved “Mrs. K”. She was recently nominated by her peers for the KUSD Distinguished Service Award.
Her greatest joys were her seven grandchildren, Bailey and Nicholas Benavidez, Nathaniel, Jackson and Miles Foster, and Logan and Noah Terman. They equally adored their grandma and all the adventures she’d take them on. They would always part ways by saying “Bye. Love you. See you tomorrow.”
Sharon is survived by her husband, daughters and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sharon will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (7117 – 14th Avenue, Kenosha, WI) with burial to follow at St. George Cemetery. A visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family or a charity of your choice in Sharon’s memory would be appreciated.

I was so sorry to hear that Sharon passed away. What a shock for all of you. She was a great lady. Haven’t seen her for a few years but it was always great to catch up when I did. Hope that all the memories from all your years together will help all of you through this difficult time. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family. I know she loved all of you and will be missed.
