On January 15, 2011 Ruth departed from this world into the loving arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior. She was surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home.
She was born on March 19, 1934 in Silver Lake, Wisconsin to Nels Peter and Florence (DeBelle) Nelson. She married her high school sweetheart, Lester Litzenberg, on July 26, 1952. She attended Wilmot and Bradford High Schools and completed her education in 1968, graduating from the first class from Gateway. Ruth enjoyed making a home for her family and demonstrated her love through cooking and baking. She also enjoyed sewing for her children and later became an accomplished quilter, leaving heirloom quilts for her family members. She raised her family in Kenosha County and retired to Florida with her husband in 2000 where they had many friends.
Together with her husband, they had four children, three daughters and one son. Vicki (Jack) Zanotti of Pleasant Prairie, Gary (Shawn) Litzenberg of Woodburn, Oregon, Sandra (James) Malewitz of Charlevoix, Michigan, and Jackie (Wally) Marciniak of Kenosha. They have 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers. She was greatly loved by her family and will be sorely missed by all.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Ruth’s life on Saturday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Missio Dei Fellowship Church, located at 5214 – 47th Avenue, Kenosha. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance of Pleasant Prairie would be appreciated.
