Royce C. Dickman, age 70 a resident of Racine died Wednesday July 20th 2011 at his residence.
Born on March 29th 1941 in Cashton WI he was the son of the late Cornelius and Mary (Steidel) Dickman.
He proudly served in the US Army from 1960-1963 as an aircraft mechanic and was stationed in Korea.
On July 16th 1966 he married Joanne Amos at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sturtevant. She would precede him in death in 1986.
A hard working man all of his life, he had been employed at various local factories and construction companies. He also co-owned Suburban Sewer and Water Inc.
He was a long time member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Racine. He was a member of the Lions Club, and was proud to be a regular blood donor, contributing almost 14 gallons of blood and saving 333 lives. An avid football fan, he enjoyed watching the Racine Raiders, RYS Junior Raiders, Cardinals, and Irish teams, and was always sad when the season ended. He also loved to watch his children and grandchildren participate in various athletics and activities, always there with words of encouragement.
He is survived by two sons; Dean (Sarah Schmidt) Dickman of Racine, Shane (Susie) Dickman of Yorkville WI, two daughters Colleen Gerou of Kenosha, Rhonda LaFerney of Racine, six grandchildren, Crystal Gerou, Jeremy (Allison) Dickman, Greg LaFerney Jr., Shannon LaFerney, Laura Freeman, Lucas Dickman, five great grandchildren, Chloe, Nadia, William Dean, Manny, Brady, two brothers Doug (Ronnie) Dickman, David (Marlene) Dickman, and three sisters, Joanne Williams, Sandy (Calvin) Schumaker and Marlene (John) Storer. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews and his faithful companion Blue.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joanne, one brother Kenneth, one granddaughter Haley and longtime companion Donna Clark.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 29th 2011 at 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Paris. Visitation with the family will take place on Thursday evening at the church from 5-7 PM. Burial will follow the mass on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a charity to be later determined would be appreciated.
