Roger Lee Gename

Roger Lee Gename, age 71, passed away on November 4th, 2025. He was born on May 3rd, 1954, in New Groton, Connecticut to James Gename and Janice (Kolb) Gename. In 1976 he married the love of his life Margaret Ide and remained faithfully married to her until his passing. He has worked numerous jobs in the area including Allis Chalmers, Modine Manufacturing and Gander Mountain.

Roger was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. He also loved all outdoors activities including fishing and boating and hiking. He was a children’s coach in various sports. He loved traveling including various trips to the Outer Banks, Door County and Ohio to visit relatives and fishing trips to both Alaska and Canada. Roger was a double lung transplant recipient in 2018 and the family had a celebration of life at the UW Hospital.

Roger was an accomplished athlete earning the Kenosha Athlete of the Year award in 1972. In 1976 he graduated from UW Whitewater. Later in 2004 he was inducted into Whitewater’s Football Hall of Fame. He was a man of faith and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for many years.

Roger is survived by his wife Margaret (Ide) Gename, children: Steve (Erin) Gename, Matt (Tiffany) Gename and Nicole (Tom) Cochran, grandchildren: Reese Cochran, Thomas Cochran, Andrew Cochran all of Dublin, Ohio, Mason Gename, Brooklyn Gename, Emmitt Gename, Wyatt Gename, Luciana Gename, Henry Gename and William Gename all of Kenosha and siblings: Russ Gename and Robin Wade both of Kenosha.

The family would like to thank the Lord above for giving him this wonderful life.

A celebration of life will be held in Spring of 2026.
