Robert J. “Bob” Irving, age 84, a resident of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday September 7, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged.
Robert was born on January 4, 1927 in Kenosha to Walter and Josie (Jepson) Irving. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha and attended Mary D. Bradford High School. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army for several years and was stationed in Japan.
On August 20, 1949 at St. Anthony’s in Kenosha Robert married Laura V. Boudreau. They were happily married for 62 years.
He was employed as a pipefitter for AMC and retired in 1988 after 42 years. Robert was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and St. Therese Catholic Church. He was very active with the U.A.W. Local “72” retirees, a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Boy Scouts of America, Holy Name Society, and volunteered for various community organizations including St. Vincent DePaul and K.Y.F.
Robert is survived by his wife Laura Irving of Kenosha, two sons Richard W. (Ruth) Irving of Pleasant Prairie and Raymond L. (Laura) Irving of Kenosha and two daughters Mrs. Renee M. (Frazier) Streich of Montello WI and Mrs. Victorine A. (Noel) Fanta of Racine. He is also survived by ten grandchildren Jeremy, Barry, Karen, Riley, Ryan, Laura, Nicholas, Stephanie, Eric Sr and Megan. He is further survived by six great grandchildren Eric Jr, Alyvia, Audrey, Veronica, Alana and Shelly.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Josie Irving, brother Eugene and sister in law Celeste and one son Joseph in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday September 12 at 11:00 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church (9005 22nd Avenue). Visitation with the family will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance (10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie WI 53158), St. Joseph Catholic Academy or a charity of ones choice would be appreciated.
